I suppose an introduction is in order?!
Hi there, I am Jack and I walk the line delicately balancing on the razor's edge between worlds. In ancient times I might even have been considered a powerful mystic because power flows to things in between.
I was born visually impaired, What they call legally blind. Let's stop here, because I know the only word you saw in that sentence was:
Blind
Go back and reread it. Pretty much anyone wearing glasses or contacts is considered legally blind.
I coasted through life to age 7 before it was discovered more on that later... My vision cannot be fixed due to the cause. So to simplify I am permanently nearsighted. Caught between the world of the blind and the world of the sighted.
Walking this space has left me a little jaded but I deal with that by being a sarcastic smartass. I am a huge Nerd, I love cartoons, videogames and have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. I have been to the bottom of the deepest and darkest depression and clawed my own way out through the love of those 3 things. I love to workout too and I am not ashamed to admit it was an anime series that inspired me to do so.
DRAGON BALL Z BABY YEAH!
Currently I work in retail, but like most I am hoping for more. I graduated from The Red McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin back in 2005 and learned the line they used to get me to come to that school was nothing more than a fanciful lie. "You'll be able to land a top flight job with lots of upward mobility if you go to college." What a load of crap, my grandma hid her degree behind her bedroom door because she was so ashamed she fell for their crap too. As for me I have never even seen mine, my BBA, god that was such a bad joke.
I said I love videogames right? While I was attending this school in one of my marketing classes we got on the subject of videogames and Disney and whether Disney had made any videogames. I am a steadfast non joiner type but looking at the blank stares all around me I had no choice but to comment. At the time the PlayStation 2 was the console and Disney had teamed up with a heavy weight in the gaming world to produce a game called Kingdom Hearts Combining the infinite realities of the Final Fantasy game series with the imaginative worlds of Disney. You could not watch TV without seeing a commercial for it. But these fools had no clue, Disney has been involved with videogames since the Nintendo. They even have games on the most recent incarnation The Nintendo Switch.
Ported from the Sega Genesis, The Cave of Wonders level in Aladdin was such a pain in the ass! I am currently a Nintendo Switch player.
Who needs cutting edge graphics not me, I just need the game to be fun. The coolest thing about the Switch is it is not region coded so you can play an imported game on it no problem. I have several.
Or you could go with the beefier version, the Nintendo Switch OLED Larger screen better internet functions and nicer Dock
Or you can go with the lite version.
I am not a hardcore gamer more like an ADHD gamer. But some of my life's funnier stories do revolve around videogames. Though The Nintendo is not the system that brought me to the dance it is one of the systems that got me to stay. The Atari was my first game system. I actually still have mine in full working order. Back in the late 1980's my Mom bought me the first Nintendo.
Can you believe I had to fight her for it she played it more than I did. We would play 2 player on Mario Bros, but then the game that ruined my life... (insert SARCASM here) came out: Tetris.

My room was suddenly no longer mine alone. You see I am an only child, I have always had my own room. But, this game took that away. Suddenly she was on my TV all the time with it. To such a point my Dadaw (name for my grandpa) felt sorry for me and got a TV dedicated to the Nintendo. But it was still in my room. Drowning out my TV until finally one day I couldn't take it anymore, and thus my evil plan was activated I moved the second TV and the Nintendo out of my room into a corner of her TV room. That's right me as a little kid kicked a game system out of my room to reclaim my space. The kids now have no idea how good they have it this is back when volume leveling did not exist so if someone yelled on the TV the volume would temporarily spike. So trying to share the room was out of the question. You could say I was privileged but I really wasn't once my vision was discovered my Dadaw came out of retirement retaking his business in order to give me the foundation for a better life. To honer him and his sacrifice I am attempting to take hold of that better life for myself and my wife.
Back to the story after I kicked the Nintendo and it's TV out of my room my Mom played Tetris and she played it some more. She played it so long and hard the TV literally caught on fire and we had to quickly and forcefully throw it out the back door onto the concrete in the backyard. My Mom played video games with me all the way up to the PlayStation 1.
The consoles I have owned in order: Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Sega Genesis, Sega Gamegear, Nintendo 64, Gameboy Color, Playstation 1,2,3, original Xbox, Nintendo 3Ds and the Nintendo Switch.
In the next installment I will give a more detailed explanation and history of my Vision.
I hope you have enjoyed this so far...

In this world we are swept by life.
it can be as a still pond, or as a raging white water river.
Life is what you make of it, sit back and enjoy the ride.
We only get to play this game once, and in our wake nothing more than memories remain.
So you can call me Jack!
